TITLE (POSTER): Salvinorin A: Review of properties and its potential therapeutic value
Salvinorin A is a non-nitrogenous diterpenoid with unique properties. As the main psychoactive ingredient of wisdom´s sage (salvia divinorum) it is a selective kappa-opioid agonist, having psychedelic effects not similar to any other psychedelic, effective in a microgram-range dose. Recent research suggests its anti-addictive potential and anectodal reports claim also anti-depressive properties and the ability to improve healthier perception of one´s own body. Several countries outlawed the substance in recent years but many countries still don´t have salvinorin A scheduled and therefore allow conducting research on human subjects more easily than conventional psychedelics scheduled in virtually all countries. This opportunity should be used in places where doing such research is still easily possible until legal restrictions limit it severely.
