Ciara Sherlock is a lead facilitator for the Psychedelic Experience Weekends, which are legal group retreats using the legal substance psilocybin in The Netherlands. Ciara is also the founding director of The Psychedelic Society of Ireland. Ciaras main focus of work in the psychedelic realm is cultivating the psychedelic community through events, harm reduction work at festivals, and experience facilitation. She is trained in harm reduction, festival welfare and completed a course on Integrating Psychedelic Experience with MAPS (US). Ciara is also a qualified Bio Dynamic Bodywork therapist. Her practice mainly focuses on massage therapy but she has a big interest and extensive experience in Holotropic breathwork and body movement techniques, working towards the release of both physical and emotional trauma through the body. Ciara is currently training in Shamanic Transpersonal Psychotherapy in Ireland and gets great gratification by merging all these learnings together in her work as a psychedelic experience facilitator.
The Psychedelic Experience Retreats – Creating a modern ceremony
Ciara and Stefana are lead facilitators at the Psychedelic Experience Weekends, the pioneering programme offering legal, modern ceremonial retreats in The Netherlands using psilocybin-truffles. For over two years they have been holding space for people going on deep, often life-changing journeys. In their talk, they will share insights into their journey of creating a modern ceremony: Reconnecting to the ancient and disappearing wisdom of their own traditions and heritage, embracing multicultural influences brought about by globalisation; and incorporating insights from psychotherapy and related practices. They will discuss preparation, setting, integration, ethics, and their vision for the future.
