Eugenia Pineda Casimiro

My name is Eugenia Pineda Casimiro, born in Huautla de Jimenez, Oaxaca – place full of magic, traditions, and original culture of the hallucinogenic mushrooms, or “Holy Children” as they are known in Mazatec language, the original dialect of Mazatec, our municipality. There is a diversity of flora and fauna, we have unique and original cuisine, and follow rites and customs such as weddings, funerals, baptisms, the day of the dead. There are Hueuhuentones, the people who represent the souls of the deceased using masks and typical local clothes from here embroidered and blanket dancing and singing songs composed by themselves in the dialect of here.
I am 44 years old, I have been married for 23 years and I have 3 children born of the same marriage. I am the daughter of grandmother Julia Julieta Casimiro, former member of the International Council of the Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers. My first experience with the Sacred Fungi (Holy Children) was at the age of 12. I have been performing ritual ceremonies, helping other people and following the path of light and God for about 25 years. Since then, I have helped my people from Mexico, as well foreigners. I have had the opportunity to travel different parts of the world, such as the United States, Canada, Brazil, Alaska, Israel, and currently France.
