“Crowd-sourcing reviews, a community approach to improve the safety of psychedelic retreats”
Many studies on psychedelics promise huge therapeutic potential for healing mental conditions and improving personal well-being. The use of psychedelic plant medicines is booming worldwide in the form of organised ceremonies and retreats to help people in need. But due to the current lack of regulations and professionalism, a minor part of the participants end-up in a worst (mental) state after attending such sessions than before. Participants might not be well educated about the safety risks and some are accepted without interview process. Also the lack of integration after the ceremonies leaves people confused. And in rare cases the lack of support during the ceremony leads to physical harm of people in need. These rare incidents can not only ruin the lives of the people involved, but also harm the perception of psychedelics as seen from by law-enforcement and media. In this talk we present our community approach for improving the safety related to psychedelic session worldwide. By crowd-sourcing organisation reviews we’re building an image of the centers worldwide. With the collection of the reviews we will drive communication between the participants, the organisations and the psychedelic community in order to improve the safety of organised retreats for both the participants as the organizers.
